Dirty hands
I spend most of my Saturday's, especially during warmer weather, working in the monastery's yard and garden. Yesterday, besides mowing all the grass, was spent planting. I planted one each of two varieties of eggplant (aubergine), two varieties of rosemary, some cinnamon basil and geraniums in various planters outside the house. These join the tomatoes, arugula and thyme that I planted earlier. Now, if the weather will only cooperate....

Are the other brothers too infirm to help or do you do this for fun?
Snarky answer? Two brothers can be excused for age/health reasons. The others have consecrated oil on their hands, which makes manual labor impossible.
What is arugula? Thankyouplease.
Arugula?
Yes, your Majesty. A quaint colonial term for rocket salad. It is another example of the unfortunate corruption of your Majesty's language by the unwashed hoardes of Italian immigrants in America.
I take it that the fact that anything edible is likely to be consumed by Brother Porcinus is simply another helpful test of your devotion.
Unfortunately, you are correct. He will take the best of my labors and put it into one of his horrible culinary creations. I will cry.
I think I prefer arugula as a term - let's hear it for the unwashed hordes!
No myrrh and frankincense? Uh oh.
